This week we’re profiling the Boys & Girls Club of York County. Are they in your Givolio?
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of York County is to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Club has the vision to provide world-class experience to assure that success is within reach of every young person who enters through the doors. The Club works with all members to keep them on track for graduating from high school with a plan for the future, intertwined with demonstrating good character, citizenship and living a healthy lifestyle. Using their youth development model, the club provides academic enhancement, knowledge about healthy lifestyle choices, and development of good character and citizenship.
The BGCYC opened in 1992 by a group of concerned local citizens. Members are between the ages of 6 -18. There are currently four Clubs in operation, and the annual membership was 830 in 2013. The Boys & Girls Clubs of York County is a registered IRS 501(c)3 charity which receives funds from contributions, membership fees, special events, grants and United Way of York County.
The BGCYC includes an After School Program and a Summer Camp Program that runs from June until August. After School Program enrollment is based on a child’s school lunch status. An annual membership for the Club costs $25 and is renewable each August.
