If your nonprofit is on GuideStar, then you may already be in someone’s Givolio!
Why is Givolio Important to Nonprofits?
Givolio is for Givers
Givolio was created for the individual who wants a better way to do charitable giving. It’s personal, easy, engaging, and in your pocket. As a nonprofit organization, simply share Givolio with your audience to increase one-to-one digital donations from both current and new supporters of your mission.
Nonprofits and the Internet
For a nonprofit, the Internet is the primary tool to communicate with and grow your community. Currently, the greatest opportunities lie in Social Media and Mobile Technology. Many nonprofits are already using these effectively. Some have lots of followers and engagement, affecting awareness and participation. The next step, for most nonprofits, is to turn social engagement into donations – turn likes into dollars, so to speak. Givolio does just that.
Ways you can leverage Givolio.
1. Use a Call-To-Action
“Add us to your Givolio,” should be your call-to-action. When your organization is in someone’s Givolio, then that individual has chosen your organization as part of his or her personal giving portfolio. When they give to their Givolio, they will give to you. When they check-in with their Givolio, they will be checking in with you. When they see something you post on Facebook or Twitter, something that moves them, they can immediately and easily open their Givolio on their phones and give to support your efforts. Ask yourself, who’s in your Givolio?
2. Manage Your Givolio Profile
We utilize the API offered by GuideStar to pull information into our application about nonprofit organizations. If you want to improve your description or logo in Givolio, then visit GuideStar.org and edit your information there. It’s free to do so.
3. Communicate through Twitter
Your feed in Givolio is your Twitter feed. If you want to communicate with your Givolio audience, you can easily do it just by posting to your Twitter account. If your Twitter account is not pulling into your profile in Givolio, it’s because we don’t have it in our database. Send us your Twitter handle, and we’ll add your organization’s Twitter feed to our database. It’s free and easy to do. The result will be for individuals to see what you are engaged in as an organization so they can add you to their Givolio and stay engaged as a microgiver over time.
