Givolio is a passion project for all of us, and it’s something we care deeply about. So when Guy Reel at Winthrop University approached us to ask if his students could contribute in any way to the project, we were thrilled! Over the course of the 2017 Spring semester, we partnered with his Journalism class, which 2 goals in mind:
- To spread awareness of Givolio by spotlighting different area organizations, and
- To give the students practical experience with blog writing, research, videography, and SEO.
The students chose nonprofits to spotlight and gathered research and photos to use for blog posts. This gave them the opportunity to talk about a cause that was meaningful to them, which makes any writing more fun. Some of the students also contributed to our series of “Who’s in your Givolio?” videos, where they spoke about the organizations they choose to support and why they choose to support them.
Next week we will begin publishing the posts and videos the students produced over the semester. We’re appreciative of all the work they put in, and we’re excited to share the results of this collaboration!
